In Malaga they inhabited a fortified trading quarter, the Castil de Genoveses, from the first third of the 14th century until the Christian conquest of 1487. Partially excavated in 1987-88, this volume addresses, for the first time and in all its aspects, the area and its inhabitants with an unprecedented archaeological and documentary study, explaining why the port of Malaga was one of the most important in the medieval Mediterranean.
