In autumn 1937 a mysterious woman appears in Port Alma, nestled on the chilly coast of Maine. Dora March does not like to talk about her background, but she soon settles into Port Alma, winning friends and admirers, particulary the Brothers Cal and Billy Chase. Yet within a year she flees the Town on the same bus she arrived on, leaving Billy dead and Cal in pursuit of the woman who has apparently killed is brother...
